racing

if there are 8 billion humans in the world, why don’t we aim to create 8 billion 1st places? why can’t we collectively cheer on each other’s pursuit of winning first place in our own lives?

too often i fall into the trap of feeling like i need to participate in a race i never signed up for – resulting in feeling bad about myself, even though rationally i know it makes no sense.

it’s a universally accepted fact that every human being is unique. but for some reason, we collectively decided we should all aim for the same goal. the measures we race toward — economic success, status, titles, power — are infinite by design. you can always have more. there is no finish line.

that’s the trap. not the ambition itself, but the belief that crossing some threshold will finally make you feel like enough.

my fundamental delusion is that there is something out there that will make me happy and fulfilled forever. but happiness is internal. and in being me, i am already in first place – no one can beat me at that.

humanity is not a zero sum game. life is not a race :)

one of 8 billion first places. this one is yours.
